The MEC of Community Safety Dan Plato said there is a lack of quality evidence being collected by SAPS to secure convictions.

Over the past three years zero convictions has been secured out of 87 cases of gang related murder and attempted murder in Hanover Park.

Spokesperson for the Minister, Greg Wagner said Plato specialised units have proven to be an effective strategy as they offer for example specialist skills need to investigate successful convictions.

He added that the statistics show that not enough is being done to ensure that murderers do not go unpunished.
