Two people died and two others were left injured on the N2 south near the M7 off ramp this afternoon.

This is after a truck slammed into two vehicles.  It is believed that the bakkie had broken down on the N2; a mechanic had stopped to assist when the heavy goods truck slammed into them.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said the three occupants that was in the bakkie, flung off the highway and landed on the N7 on ramp.

“Tragically two of them had died due to the very severe injuries they sustained, the other person as well as the truck driver had sustained relatively minor injuries and they were treated on scene and then transported to a nearby hospital for further care,” Botha added.
