The Congress of South African Trade Union
in the North West said it is disappointed at the treatment of workers at Reboni
Furniture Factory.
Cosatu Provincial Secretary Solly Phetoe
said workers have been subjected to poor conditions resulting in them being
killed.
Phetoe said it’s an insult to the workers
because R20 000 for not complying after workers have been subjected to
injury in duty. The Department of labour knows very well that the employer of
this branch has not been complying very well as a number of injuries had
already occurred within the Factory.
“Therefore we as Cosatu find it insulting
that the Department of Labour celebrate employers paying R20 000 for the
lives of workers who die during work Phetoe added.
