The Democratic Alliance has called for a
debate by the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs on the new immigration
regulations.
DA MP of Home Affairs Haniff Hoosen said
media reports suggest that in less then a month the new regulations have ripped
apart families, dissuaded investors and led to the suspension and even
cancellation of multi-million rand film and tourism ventures.
Hoosen said they are calling on the
department to recall this decision and allow for further consultation.
Hoosen added that a number of foreigners
are struggling to come to the country because they unable to comply with the
regulations.
