Ministerial Spokesperson for Education Elijah Mhlanga said we have a draft policy in place that will help focus on access learners have to school transport.
Mhlanga said the big part is law enforcement if they play their role it assists us in our goals especially those involved with scholar transport.
“Making sure all transport vehicles are in good condition and also for drivers to respect the rules of the road ensuring the safety of our learners when traveling to school Mhlanga added.
Minister of Transport Dipuo Peters
together with Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga on Tuesday held
bilateral talks to discuss concerning issues regarding learner/school transport.
Both departments are working on a
draft policy regulating the environment.
The policy would address issues such as safety, law enforcement and
accessibility of transport to learners.
