Metrorail in the Western Cape has announced that from the 1st of July train tickets will increase.

Regional Manager Mthuthuzeli Swartz said that the regional increase was determined in relation to and in support of the weighted average national fare increase of 5.6 percent.

Swartz said the fare increase will support the region’s most immediate goal to effect visible and short-term improvements to improve customers travel experience.

Swartz said the commuters have to understand that there is pressure to improve the service and this minimal increase will help towards those necessary improvements.
