WC government attracted investments through the green economy

Western Cape government has
attracted significant investments through the green economy.
Zille said the intention for the province to become a green economic hub is with the aim of creating sustainable job opportunities.
Premier Helen Zille said there has been
about R20 billion which has been allocated since 2013 for actual planned
investment in the province for renewable energy sector.

Provincial Government Spokesperson Wouter
Kriel said in 2013, our investment mapping found that an estimated R20bn has
been allocated to actual and planned investment in the Western Cape renewable energy
sector.
He added that our Green Economy Strategy Framework identified a number of priority areas,
with key drivers being natural gas as a new and important source of power in
the province, facilitation of market opportunities and access to finance,
innovation and ensuring the green economy really does work for our poorer communities.
