Congress of the People has called on government to consider other options to stop the load shedding, such as implementing net metering.

Cope Spokesperson Dennis Bloem said Eskom is in dire difficulties, therefore let the people who have solar installations and energy to spare come to rescue.

Eskom has assured South Africans that the lights will stay on this winter with nearly 2,000 megawatts expected to come online next month.

Bloem said we are saying that we are looking at various options on how to address this load shedding and one of the options that we are proposing and looking at is net metering.

“We are proposing that.” Bloem ended.
