The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has strongly condemned the illegal water connections in the area.

The municipality loses over one-hundred-and-twenty kiloliters of water per annum through illegal water connections.

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Spokesperson Lebogang Ramashala said offenders found with unmetered water supply due to illegal connections will be liable to a penalty as well as additional charges, to cover the cost incurred due to damages caused to the network or connections.

Ramashala added that this is dangerous in the sense that it can cause much better water outages and disadvantage the community at large by making an illegal connection you could damage the pipes that they as a Municipality have layered it down. Connections are not in the plans and therefore would benefit nobody
