Western Cape MEC of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell has noted the comments and speculation around Oudtshoorn.

A statement issued by the department says it is currently investigating the events that transpired on Friday.

Spokesperson for the MEC, James-Brent Styan says, "We are extremely disappointed at the continued political games being played in Oudtshoorn."

Styan explained that it should be noted that the continued political games on the ground is hampering the work that the department is trying to do, which is to fix Oudtshoorn and turn it around.
