Minister Mthethwa responds to vacancy rate at the IPID

The Minister of Police Nathi Mthethwa said he has noted certain media reports around the vacancy rate at the Independent Police Investigative Directorate and subsequent reports that these have not been filled. 

Ministerial Spokesperson Zweli Mnisi said pending the filling of all vacancies at IPID the institution continues to be effective and its primary role of policing the police has not been compromised. 

Mnisi said Minister Mthethwa has emphasized that the importance of filling the posts at the IPID are crucial however the Ministry also wants to ensure that relevant people are hired.

Mnisi added that the IPID division is very important so highly skilled people are needed as well as the Head of the IPID interviews were held last week and the appointment will be made in due course.
