Western Cape Police Commissioner General Arno Lamoer has expressed his satisfaction at the decision of the court for the conviction of the murder of two police officials in Hout Bay.

In October last year the two constables Pindiwe Nikani and Mandisi Nduku were shot and killed while on duty at Imizamo Yethu.

One died on the scene and the other died in hospital.

Police Spokesperson Tembinkosi Kinana said police investigators worked around the clock to get to the perpetrators of this crime.  Eventually the Namibian national Fabianus Philipus was arrested and charged with two murders and being in possession of an illegal firearm.

Kinana added that General Lamoer said he hoped the court judgement would bring closure to the families of the deceased.

Philipus is expected back in court on the 18th of September for sentencing.
