Two women seriously injured in Stellenbosch and one man burnt to death in Pietermaritizburg

ER24 paramedics are responding to a serious accident on Annandale road near the R44 in Stellenbosch. 

It is believed that two cars collided into each other.  Paramedics are still on the scene. 

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said one woman has been removed from the scene and transported in a stable but serious condition through to medi-clinic in Stellensbosch. The second woman will be airlifted from scene to a nearby hospital.

At the time police are still investigating what caused the crush.

Meanwhile a man in his 30’s has been found burnt to death in his home in the Frans Location in Pietermaritizburg this morning. 

Paramedics believe that the man was staying in the back room of his tuck shop when the incident happened.

A family member went to look for him and found the doors to his house locked and the signs of a fire visible.

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said when they arrived on scene they had to break into the man's home to get inside.  

Jackson added that they found that the man had suffered extensive burn injuries and there were no longer any signs of life upon initial assessment. The man was declared dead on scene.

“It is not clear what exactly took place and the local police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.” Jackson.
