A suspect who robbed Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel in Brown’s Farm last month is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates Court on Monday.
The paramedics was responding to an emergency in the area
when they were approached by two unknown suspects who gun pointed them and
robbed them of their personnel belongings and medical equipment.
‘’On 04 January 2025, Emergency Medical Services responded
to a medical emergency in Dubu Street, Brown’s Farm. While the paramedics were
stationary in Kobodi Street, they were approached by two unknown suspects who
pointed them with a firearm and robbed them of their personnel belongings and
medical equipment,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg, western Cape police
spokesperson.
‘’The matter was reported to Nyanga SAPS and the case was
assigned to Detective Constable JW Arnold for investigation. Following a
thorough investigation a suspect and his address was identified and visited but
the suspect was on the run. The investigating officer used his informer network
and the suspect was traced to an address in Brown’s Farm where he was arrested
on Friday morning, 07 February 2025 following a tracing operation by Nyanga
detectives,’’ he added.
The suspect faces a charge of armed robbery.
