Hundreds of very angry citizens marched to Parliament today in protest of the Western Cape Education Department’s proposed closure of 27 schools in the province.

Leaders of the march refused to hand a memorandum in at parliament unless they could hand it directly to MEC Donald Grant or Premier Helen Zille herself.

Zille and Grant were absent at the time of the march.

Chairperson of Proudly Mannenberg Mario Wanza said that the decision was taken not to hand in the memorandum and they will schedule for another protest soon.

Wanza also said they will not rest until their grievances have been heard.
