Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille says Dullah Omar’s family wants
Jan Smuts Drive
to be renamed after the late politician.

The City of Cape Town’s renaming committee handed over a list to the mayor earlier this week.

Omar’s relatives are not pleased with the plan to rename
Vanguard Drive
after the former Minister.

The Premier’s Spokesperson Solly Malatsi says the issues will now go back to Ad-hoc Naming Committee for deliberations.

Transport Mayoral Committee Member Brett Herron said that about seventeen street names will remain unchanged.
