Disaster response teams have been deployed in the Central Karoo to rescue a new born baby on the snowy mountains near Matjiesfontein.
Rescue teams are still at the scene.
Disaster Risk Management’s Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said the defence force helicopter was activated and deployed to the area.
He added that a search mission is underway.
Disaster Risk Management is still awaiting further detail regarding the condition of the mother and the child.
Solomons-Johannes said the mother and the child will be taken to the Beaufort West for medical treatment.
