Government outraged over Zuma cartoon

The ANC Women’s League is outraged over what it describes as “the disgusting and completely distasteful” depiction of President Jacob Zuma in the Zapiro cartoon.

The Women’s League says cartoonist David Shapiro has gone too far by depicting Zuma as a phallus with a shower head.

Government has called on cartoonist Zapiro to withdraw what it calls his “disparaging and repulsive” cartoon depicting President Jacob Zuma as a penis.

Government Spokesperson Jimmy Manyi says media organizations should also remove the cartoon from their websites.

Manyi added that government does promote freedom of expression, but artists should ensure that they do not infringe on the rights of others people.
