Western Cape Community Safety MEC Dan Plato wants to meet with Du Noon community leaders, after a man was attacked and killed by residents on Tuesday.

Police said the suspected thief was beaten to death.

The knife-wielding man had tried to rob a resident who was on his way to work.
In recent months, Khayelitsha residents have resorted to mob justice, with some residents even torching criminals.

Plato said his department would set up a meeting with Du Noon leaders.
