On Tuesday cabinet held their ordinary meeting with the press briefing taking place on Thusrday.
Various issues were discussed most notably the election of Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as the chairperson of the African Union Commission.
Cabinet spokesperson Jimmy Manyi explained about an executive outreach programme in which President Jacob Zuma will conduct a visit in KwaZulu-Natal next week.
Cabinet noted that August marks women’s month and Manyi explained that a National Women’s Day celebration will take place on the 9th of August at the Union Buildings.
He added that cabinet wished the South African Olympic team well as they left for the games on Thursday.
Cabinet also discussed two bills which were approved, namely the South African Language Practitioners Council Bill and the South African Maritime and Aeronautical Search and Rescue Amendment Bill.
Manyi said that cabinet members will provide further inputs towards the National Development Plan which will be finalised at the Cabinet Lekgotla next month.
