The Cape Town Disaster Risk Management Centre says they are on high alert to help flood-stricken residents affected by heavy rainfall in the mother city.

The Center’s Spokesperson Wilfred Solomons-Johannes says they assisted over 2 500 people over the weekend and on Monday continued to assist residents in the affected areas.

The South African Weather Services has issued a warning for more rainy and icy weather conditions over the next few days.

Solomons-Johannes says they have placed additional disaster response teams on high alert.

He said that the people in the affected areas have been relocated.

He added that the City of Cape Town has already intervened and provided a lot of protective measures.
