On Friday two rival gangs in Lavender Hill agreed to a seven day truce to end violence in the area.
In recent weeks many people have been killed in the crossfire as as result of the continuing gang violence across the Cape Flats.
Women and children are often the ones who are hurt or killed in the crossfire.
Most recently in a Hanover Park a three-year-old boy was shot six times.
Community manager at New World Foundation in Lavender Hill Llewellyn Jordaan said the two gangs the Mongrels and the Junky Funky’s came together and asked for a ceasefire for seven days.
He added that they had been approached in the past.
