Three people arrested for arson in Taung in North West will appear in the town’s magistrate’s court on Monday.

The homes of two councillors and a headman were burnt down in a service delivery protest yesterday afternoon.

Police say a group of about 20 people were seen starting the fires. Residents have been demanding roads, electricity, houses and jobs in protests over the past two months.

More arrests are expected after yesterday’s violence.
