The Western Cape Human Settlements MEC Bonginkosi Madikizela said the department will sign contracts with the People Housing Process (PHP) service providers by the end of this month.
This is to ensure service delivery.
Madikizela delivered his comments in an address at an information session with PHP contractors.
The MEC’s spokesperson Bruce Oom said this is needed to put greater emphasis on quality and service delivery.
He added that until recently most of the contractors and service providers were appointed by the local community group which would often break down the quality and other problems.
Oom said in the need to deliver high quality housing units, the department has decided to find contracts with the service providers and to monitor their performance.
