The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) says the provincial ANC has misled the media and the public regarding the supposed lack of textbooks in the province.
On Thursday the ANC claimed that many learners in the province had not received textbooks since the beginning of the year.
Four schools were highlighted in Cape Town in the Kraaifontein area.
The department’s spokesperson Bronagh Casey said the claims are completely false.
She added that the ANC is obviously trying to divert the attention away from the crisis that is unfolding in Limpopo regarding textbooks.
Casey said the WCED is concerned that on their management tool systems that each of the principals of the four schools had the relevant textbook delivery for the year.
The department will investigate if there are any additional shortages.
