Lonmin workers reject company’s offer

Striking Lonmin workers have rejected the company’s offer of a 900-Rands a month increase.

The offer was put on the table last night and is the first to be made by the platinum miner since the illegal strike began five weeks ago.

Workers say it is far below their demand for 12-and-a-half-thousand-Rands, as it means the lowest paid workers will only be receiving five-thousand-500-Rands a month.

They also say that the offer is part of an existing three-year agreement to be implemented next month.
