Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Jeff Radebe has stressed that the security clampdown announced at the Union Buildings in Pretoria today is not a state of emergency.

Government’s security cluster, including Police Minister Nathi Mthetwa and the chief of the security services, stressed that violence and illegal gatherings would no longer be tolerated.

Those who try to incite violence and ill-discipline can also expect to be acted against.

Rabede says the security and the economic stability of the country are being threatened by what has been happening at mines in North West and Gauteng.
