President Jacob Zuma says politicians should not hijack the Lonmin labour dispute for their own purposes.

Without referring directly to Julius Malema, Zuma said in a lecture in Kimberley in the Northern Cape that incitement and inflammatory talk wasn’t good for Marikana or the country.

Zuma called on all the parties involved in the solving of the labour unrest in North West to take part in peace talks, set to continue on Monday.

It is understood that mineworkers’ demands for higher wages will be discussed next week.
