DA: ANC is hypocritical

The Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape said it is hypocritical for the African National Congress to protest over school closures in the province, given that the ANC is preparing to close 310 schools in the Eastern Cape.

This is as the Western Cape High Court heard a review application on Monday on whether provincial education MEC Donald Grant was correct in wanting to close 17 schools down.

DA’s Media Manager Liza Albrecht explains that it is part of the ANC’s strategy to try and win back the province next year.

She added that the Western Cape government is closing schools because they feel that there are much better educational opportunities for children in schools with dwindling student numbers and where these children will be able to be receive a much better level of education compared to what they are currently receiving.
