The department of Home Affairs said they will make sure that the safety of women and children involved in an alleged human trafficking ring in Orange Farm is maintained.

About 30 people ages from 20 and 30 were allegedly held captive for refusing to pay a bribe.

The 30 people are from Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

Departmental Spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said allegedly these people were transported from Musina to Johannesburg.

Mamoepa further said these people are kept against their will because they were ordered to pay about R1000.

He added that the police are investigating and if the allegations of human trafficking are proven then those guilty will face the full might of the law.
