Six suspects arrested in Phoenix

Phoenix Cluster Crime intelligence and umhlali K9 unit members embarked on a crime driven operation that led to the arrest of six wanted suspects and recovered three firearms as well as a vehicle suspected to be used to commit robberies in the province. 

All the suspects appeared in court on Friday for armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition. 

Captain Thulani Zwane said the first four suspects were arrested in Ndwendwe area after the members received information about their whereabouts; they were allegedly involved in a robbery in May this year.

Zwane added that the other suspects were arrested in Inanda and Verulem where they were found in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition. All the recovered firearms will be sent ballistic test to check whether they were used in other crimes.
