Six SA Medical Students said to return to Cuba

Health Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi, has pardoned and cleared six students, who were called back to South Africa after they embarked on an illegal strike while undergoing medical training in Cuba, are likely to resume their studies in Havana. 

The students were expelled after they demanded an increase in wages. 

Eastern Cape Health Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo confirmed that the provincial health department has been notified that one of the students from the Eastern Cape will return to Cuba to start with his studies.

Kupelo further said they also have one of the students that was returned last year because she had fallen, but she will also return this year.

He added that the national department has indicated the students will return to class in September this year.
