The Western Cape Department of Education has announced that its telematics programmed is being expanded in the province.

The programme will also be implemented in tow other provinces by their education department.

MEC of Education Donald Grant said since the success of the pilot in 2009, the programme has continued to expand and a total of 146 schools across the province receive the broadcast.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said grade 10 learners were introduced to the programme, to support the grade10 maths and science strategy in school.

“Next year, the WCED will pilot the programme for the first time at primary schools.

“Grade 6 learners at ten schools will be given after school tuition in language and mathematics by experts in the field” Casey added.
