One dead, four injured at Roodeport mall shooting

One man has died and four others were injured this morning after an alleged shooting at a mall in Roodepoort, west of Johannesburg.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said, “On assessment, paramedics found that one man had sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the incident. Unfortunately, nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on the scene.”

“Four other patients were found on the scene with various gunshot wounds, one of them critically injured. Paramedics began their treatment of the patients and provided the critically injured patient with advanced life support.” Meiring added.

While paramedics were transporting the patients, one passed away.

The cause of the shooting is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
