ACDP: calls on Minister Oliphant to strengthen the inspectorate

The African Christian Democratic Party has called on the Minister of Labour Mildred Oliphant to strengthen the inspectorate and everything to do with compliance.

ACDP MP Cheryllyn Dudley said more money should be spent on compliance and less on talking about amendments and changes to the labour laws.

Dudley added our labour laws are strict but they are well structured and they are probably to a large degree functional, the problem we have is that they are not manned.

“We need therefore, to be spending more money on compliance and less on talking about amendments and changes clearly a futile exercise,” Dudley added.

Dudley also said the ACDP is calling for the department to simply implement the laws South Africa has.
