A man died after being knocked over by a car on the M13 near the St John's Bridge in Pinetown this morning.

It is believed that a security guard ran across the road and was struck by a light motor vehicle.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Chris Botha said when they arrived on the scene the man had already died due to the extensive injuries he had sustained.

The exact details of the cause of the accident remain unclear and the police are investigating.

In another accident three people died after the vehicle they were traveling in rolled down an embankment in the Northern Cape.

ER24 Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said five people were ejected from the car, three were declared dead and two were taken to a nearby hospital.

Jackson added that the two surviving occupants were treated for minor and moderate injuries.
