The Western Cape Education Department said in February and March 2013, 6 469 candidates made the use of the opportunity to re-write either one or two subjects in the National Senior Certificate examinations.

The overall pass rate in the province now stands at 82.8 percent.

WCED said the 2013 NSC examinations are set to begin on the 23rd of October this year.

Ministerial Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said that this has increased the overall pass rates in the 2012 NSC in the Western Cape, 86.2 % which equates to 38,671 passes.

“We would like to congratulate each of the candidates that passed these examinations and they can now take advantage of further education and training opportunities that are on offer to them,” added Casey.
