The Right to Know campaign has condemned the praising of the Protection of State Information Bill, better known as the Secrecy Bill by the Minister of State Security Siyabonga Cwele.

The Bill has been regarded as unconstitutional and was pushed into Parliament where it was passed and sent to President Jacob Zuma.

R2K said comments by the Minister that the Bill will return and be fast tracked is devastating.

R2K National Spokesperson Murray Hunter says we feel that the Secrecy Bill remains a serious threat that can be used to criminalise.

We call on the minister to retract his comment and we want the Secrecy Bill scrapped, Murray added.
