Equal Education said School
Governing Body elections which were held in schools across the country last
month were successful.
EE Head of Community Department Luzuko Sidimba
said it is important for parents to take part in these elections.
Sidimba said there are about
twenty-five-thousand schools in the country and every school has a governing
body that is democratically elected.
EE is now running extensive
campaigns to encourage parents to take part in school governing bodies.
Sidimba says all in all the
campaign was successful, but there was few challenges which includes knowing
the election dates of certain schools that was a challenge.
In those cases you find that in schools were we
didn’t get their election date did not have the quorum on the day because there
was no mobilisation of parents to attend the elections, Sidimba added.
