Metro Police K9 Savage unit arrested a 30-year-old suspect on Monday, for being in possession of illegal drugs. The K9 Unit was on patrol in Edgemead when they pulled over a Toyota Corolla during a routine traffic stop, and found cocaine hidden in a sock in the dashboard.
‘’While engaging the driver, officers noticed that he
seemed nervous, and requested to search the vehicle. (Metro Police K9) Savage
(unit) led them to 50 units of cocaine and 5 units of heroin with a street
value of nearly R30 000, hidden in a sock in the dashboard,’’ said Ruth
Solomons, Metro Police Spokesperson.
The suspect faces charges for the illegal possession of
drugs and dealing in drugs.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old suspect was arrested on
Friday after the K9 Savage unit found drugs hidden in the sound system of a
vehicle in Goodwood.
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old motorist was arrested last
Wednesday, after the K9 Savage unit sniffed out tik and mandrax to the value of
nearly R120 000 during a vehicle stop on the N2, hidden in the door panels of
the vehicle.
The suspect was detained at Gordan’s Bay Police Station.
