On this Mandela Day people did a lot of activities, in support of the 67 minutes volunteering.

Cape Town activists went to Parliament to voice out their concerns on the vigilante killings in Khayelitsha.

Cedile Nkwame one of the activists said that many people have lost their lives in this practice and something needs to be done urgently.

Nkwame said Mandela is known for peace and reconciliation and they felt it is relevant to showcase their dissatisfaction with what is happening.

A number of young boys have been killed in the area since the beginning of the year.

Nkwame said that inequality, poverty and negligence have led to the communities taking the law into their own hands.

Khayelitsha residents say that the police and the justice system have failed them.

The activist had tyres around their necks and they were singing calling for an end to vigilantism.

Sikhumbule Patrick Mnyaka from End Inequality Commission said that innocent people have lost their lives by being necklaced.

Mnyaka added that their protest today aimed to raise awareness on vigilantism.

The protest took about 67 minutes as it was in celebration of Madiba`s 94th birthday.

Protesters held up posters and had tyres around their necks
