Several political parties have welcomed the decision to cancel a deal to purchase a new Presidential jet worth two-billion-Rands.
The Democratic Alliance’s David Maynier says it seems like former Defence minister Lindiwe Sisulu initiated the deal which has been questioned because normal tender rules were not followed.
Incoming defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula announced the cancellation of the deal today and said a 86-million-Rands deposit paid to Boeing would be refunded.
The Freedom Front Plus has also welcomed the decision, saying it is totally unnecessary.
