Public hearing over closed schools

Western Cape Education MEC Donald Grant announced that public hearings will take place in the in the Western Cape.

At least 27 schools face closure in the province due to declining numbers and poor performance.

MEC Grants Spokesperson Bronagh Casey says the decision was reached after careful consideration of the governing bodies and in respect of each of the 27 schools.

Public hearings will begin on 18 August 2012.
