Public service negotiations underway

Mediation process in the public service wage negotiations is expected to get underway today.

This is after coming to a grinding halt earlier in July.  The bargaining council on Tuesday appointed a mediator to take the process forward.

Congress of South African Trade Unions declared a dispute with government last week after it rejected a wage increase of 8 percent and offered a 6.7 percent increase instead.

Cosatu's chief negotiator Mugwena Maluleke said the mediation process is all about give and take.
