The Independent Police Investigative Directorate arrested six police members from Malvern in Durban last night.
The warrant officer and five constables allegedly sexually assaulted a victim with a broken broomstick and severely beat him up.
They are also accused of robbing people of substantial amounts of money and planting drugs in their homes to force them to pay bribes.
The Directorate says further arrests are expected.
