The driver of the truck which was hit by a train in Mpumalanga on Friday is appearing in the Tonga Magistrate’s Court to face murder charges today.
The truck was transporting farmworkers, of whom 26 were killed in the tragedy. More than 20 were injured.
The Railway Safety Regulator says the coal train had been travelling from Witbank to Maputo.
The railway crossing seems to have been well marked. Witnesses also say the train driver sounded the hooter to alert the driver.
