Over the past wet weekend, Western Cape traffic officials conducted various road blocks.
24 road blocks were held throughout the Western Cape, twelve on Friday and twelve on Saturday evening.
Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa said a total of 1326 vehicles were stopped in the road blocks.
Africa said 657 drivers were screened for alcohol.
About 15 drunk drivers were arrested with the highest alcohol reading recorded being 1,20m/l.
Africa said that 11 314 vehicles were tested for speeding.
He added that 2 208 drivers was prosecuted for exceeding the speed limit.
Five fatalities were recorded for the weekend.
