Cape protests cripple economy

The Chamber of Commerce has called Cape Town politicians to meet in order to stop the violent street protests and save the Cape’s economy from damage.
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for safety and security JP Smith said extra deployment of officers had already cost the city around six hundred thousand rands in overtime in the past few weeks.
This is since the protests sparked in Philippi.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Michael Bagraim says the perception from the business community is that the the riots have created a problem with the business communities.
He added that business communities are worried that this will affect investments.
