North West police suspect yesterday’s killing of two security guards in Nkaneng near Marikana outside Rustenburg is linked to an ongoing conflict between two unions which have members on mines in the area.
The guards burnt to death when their car was set alight.
Four mineworkers were shot and wounded on Friday and Saturday.
Police say the attacks are taking place between supporters of the National Union of Mineworkers and the rival Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union.
