Labour productivity at an all time low

Adcorp released its Employment Index report on Monday with alarming statistics.

Adcorp found that South African labour productivity is at the lowest levels in 46 years. 

Most sectors including mining, transport and communication and wholesale and retail trade offset almost all the month’s employment growth. 

Labour Economist Loane Sharp explained that one of the reasons for it being so low is that businesses are increasingly depending on machine operated systems other than using human labour.
